It is the most wonderful time of the year. Now those of you thinking about Christmas when reading this statement are missing out. I am of course referring to Halloween. I love it. I adore the eerie feeling, the autumn leaves, the ghouls and zombies and most of all the pumpkins. I have always loved it and remember as a child getting excited about withches’s brooms appearing in the shops. Those days, however, my costumes consisted of a black bin bag. I’ve moved on since then and embrace Halloween as much as possible. Here are some of my favourites.
Starting off with my nails, there is only one place to go and that is Caroline’s Beauty Room in Rush. I love my Halloween claws. They are absolutely amazing. I had them done two weeks ago and they are still perfect. Read my full post here.
I’m delighted with my bits and pieces from Penneys. I have been using my tote bag for the last few weeks. The bag is €2 and the socks are €3. Look at the pumpkins, love them.
Earlier in the month the lovely Una from Blank Canvas Cosmetics invited me to do a Halloween demo at the Professional Beauty Show. I created an easy skull and best of all my model was my blogging bestie Emma from Mastering Your Makeup. Halloween, my favourite make-up brand and my blogging bestie – it was a great day. I have lots of Halloween looks on my website and Facebook gallery so if you’re in a Halloween mood please do have a look.
I bought a pumpkin (of course!) set from Lush which contained two bath bombs, a sparkly pumpkin one and Lord of Misrule. Both have a sort of earthy scent and I really liked them. I’m not a big fan of baths but these were fab.
Dealz is a haven for picking up fun bits and pieces and I got plenty of Halloween goodies. I bought my pumpkin candle holders last year and still love them. This year they also have skull holders. My little ghosts are really cute and light up. I think my favourite is the day of the dead skull bunting. Amazing.
Sticking with decorations, I had my eye on this Medusa bust on Homestore and More and this week week it was reduced to €11.99 so I had to have it. Both my house and garden are covered in decorations and my new Medusa fits in perfectly. It speaks and the snakes in her hair move.
One of the best things about this Halloween was my trip to Disney Paris. It was amazing. I’ve always wanted to go at Halloween so it was a dream for me. The streets were covered with pumpkins and ghosts and I saw Jack Skellington. I went to the Phantom House three or four times – I loved it. During my time away I was subject to a Disney Halloween proposal which was pretty perfect but that’s another story.
Here’s a bit of a shameless plug but since early October I have been wearing the Halloween jewellery that I make. My favourite are the pumpkin drop earrings.
Last night I went to Spin 1038’s Fully Charged screening of Hocus Pocus in the IMC Santry. Hocus Pocus is one of the best films ever. Who doesn’t love it?! I had intended to dress up as Winifred should I win tickets but I only found out the day before so I didn’t have time to finish the costume. Instead I wore a skeleton dress and created a dark Halloween make-up. I got the dress in Lidl! It is a costume and was longer. I didn’t like the length so chopped it and took it up. I’m delighted with the result.
Finally, my pets. Everyone knows my pets are my babies, especially my little hedgehog, Pumpkin. I love him so much. This year I knitted all of the babies pumpkin hats and scarves and they will be wearing them for Halloween. They also have wizard hats. Here’s Thor in his.
I hope all of you have a great Halloween.
