Over the last few years I have participated in Team Hope’s Shoebox Appeal either through work or personally. The Shoebox Appeal delivers Christmas presents to some of the world’s poorest children. The boxes are delivered to countries such as Romania, Kosovo, Rwanda, Malawi and more.
There is still time to send a box to Team Hope but the deadline is the 11th of November. To get involved all you really need to do is fill a shoebox with age appropriate toys. You will find a list of guidelines and suggestions on the Team Hope website. Ideally the box should be wrapped but not sealed so wrap the box and lid separately. You will also find labels on the site to indicate whether you are creating a box for a boy or girl and the age group. We chose a boy and a girl between 5-9. To help with the cost of postage include €4 in an envelope.
Creating the boxes doesn’t need to be expensive. There are great items available from shops like Dealz, Tiger, Sostrene Grene, Penneys and more. Here are some items I picked up from Dealz. The colouring books came with eight in a packet and the pencils had five sets in the packet so you will get plenty to include in the box.
When you have finished the boxes, drop them off to your nearest collection point. You’ll find a list of them here.
(my boxes look sealed but the ribbon is taped to the top only)
Please consider donating a box to Team Hope this year. You will find all the information you need on the Team Hope website (here).
