Buying from local businesses is something that I have been passionate about for quite a while. As a small business owner, I understand how difficult it us for to keep operating and that unfortunately many of us are hanging on by a thread. Big businesses don’t care about your purchases and they don’t do a happy dance for every order they receive. I have put the following list together of businesses that I recommend and I want to place a focus on creators and makers in Ireland.

I’m a big supporter of Chocolatey Clare’s ethos of ethical and sustainable practice. Clare is committed to the environment and all packaging is fully plastic-free and is compostable/recyclable and printed with vegetable-based ink. Now what about the chocolate itself, I here you ask. For me, I find that a lot of vegan chocolate is either really dark, which I don’t like, or tastes like cooking chocolate which I also don’t like. It can sometimes be an expensive let-down. This is not the case with Clare’s chocolate. Clare’s bars are a feast for all of the senses.

If you likes jams and relishes then the only place to purchase from is Folláin. This family run business produces delicious vegan treats including cranberry sauce. Special Mention

Please let me know of any great local small, eco-friendly, vegan, sustainable businesses to feature and indeed support.
